Another Brick in the Wall: The Restoration of Willmer House

Join a fascinating evening exploring the restoration of Willmer House, the Grade I listed home of the Museum of Farnham.

This special panel discussion will provide a unique insight into the ongoing conservation-led restoration of one of Farnham’s most significant historic buildings. Hear from a panel of experts, including representatives from Arts Council England, the National Heritage Lottery Fund, Graham Abrey (Lead Conservation Surveyor), Emma Simpson MBE (Historic Brick Conservator) and Roy Waight (local historian and author).

The panel will discuss the architectural significance of Willmer House, what conservation-led restoration means in practice, the challenges of maintaining historic buildings today, and some of the fascinating and little-known stories from the building’s past. Members of the conservation team will also share the challenges and rewards of restoring a historic building and protecting an important part of Farnham’s heritage for future generations.

This event is presented by Waverley Borough Council in partnership with The Farnham Society as part of the ongoing restoration project, which has brought together specialist conservators, craftspeople and heritage professionals to safeguard Willmer House.
